and 1998 it underwent an extensive refit and conversion to a passenger cruise
ship. Major components of the refit included: 1. Removed asbestos 2. Converted
the cargo hold to passenger and crew quarters 3. Replaced interior deck plates
4. Installed interior deck noise abatement system 5. Refurbished galley 6.
Gutted original passenger areas, rebuilt and redecorated same 7. Replaced
freshwater and sewage piping 8. Replaced accommodation hot water heating system
9. Rebuilt the wheelhouse 10. Installed all new electronic navigational
equipment 11. Installed new controls 12. Five new 25-man life rafts and new
launching derrick installed 13. New SOLAS inflatable/hard-shell rescue craft
installed 14. Extensively refurbished exterior 15. Built new vista lounge
topside 16. Totally replaced all electrical wiring in passenger and crew areas
17. Re-welded anchor chain studs 18. Rebuilt or replaced every service pump 19.
