Australian nudists are barely able to conceal their excitement at the news
that a chartered nude cruise will visit Australia for the first time ever in
February next year.
A US-based company
, which has chartered nude cruises around the world since
1991, has just exposed plans for a 15-day cruise along the east coast of
Australia.
The cruise ship, the Clipper Odyssey, a 100-metre long motor vessel, will
carry 128 sun-worshipping nudists from the US, Canada, Hawaii and Central
America.
The vessel belongs to The Bare Necessities Tour and Travel Company. Its
founder Nancy Tiemann last week unveiled one reason, among others, why
Australia was chosen as a destination: Because it is regarded
internationally as being naturist friendly.
“We chose Australia for its natural beauty, and how that lent itself so much
to what we are all about — nature and the beauty of the unadorned in
nature,” she said, laying bare her rationale for cruising Down Under.
Displaying not the slightest coyness, Les Rootsey, publisher of Australian
Naturist magazine, said nude holidays are more intimate.
He uncovered his belief that “When people are nude, they are a lot more
friendly. You meet a lot of people, and when you are together on a boat and
everyone is nude, you become friendly with them almost
straightaway.”
Stripping nudism of all cant and hypocrisy, Nudist Association of Victoria
president, Werner Jacob, agrees.
“You are what you are and you cannot hide anything. And what you are talking
about, well, that becomes more important than what you are wearing or what
you look like,” Jacob said, uncovering his perception of the virtues of
nudism.
Nancy Tiemann exhibited the joys of nude cruising. “Cruises are the perfect
vacationing vessels for nudists,” she gushed. “It gives us the privacy to do
what we do and enjoy the sun and the sea and all of that without imposing on
people who are not nudists.”
Despite the stiff prices, Australian nudists have demonstrated unconcealed,
almost orgiastic, ecstasy over the cruise’s coming. The bank balance of each
passenger-in-the-buff will be denuded by Aus $ 7000 for the fortnight
long sun-and-surf airing.
Ms Tiemann admits the rates are probably too elevated for first-time
nudists.
“My advice for anybody thinking about taking the plunge into social nude
recreation is to visit a local club or beach that caters for clothing
optional use.”
She said that once you embarked on a cruise, you would never look back.
“The human form is a beautiful thing — no matter what age, no matter what
the scar or imperfections. It is comforting to learn that.”
Revealing!
