What went before

My name is Frank Vanderlugt and I have always been interested in Ships. My Grandfather was a First Engineer for a shipping company called Van Nievelt Goudriaan  in Rotterdam and I had 2 uncles who were Second and Third mates.

When the first Condominiumized Ship "The World " was created I was very interested but at 2.2 million for a cabin the price was too high.

However, about 18 months ago I started participating in a plan to buy a small, affordable ship, a fixer upper so to speak, and then to turn the cabins into Condominiums.

We almost  pulled it off.

We had enough people to buy a 4500 Ton Ship called the Vergina Sky sailing out of Piraeus, Greece, and we had the owner's full cooperation with regards to receiving all prospective buyers and his full enthousiastic cooperation to upgrade the Ship.

Travel arrangements were made, hotels were booked, and 2 weeks were allotted to tour the Ship and possibly take her out for a small cruise.

One week before our actual trip to Athens, the Vergina Sky was sold to a Dutch cruise company.

It was impossible to cancel travel arrangements so we went to Greece anyway.

We made a cruise on an identical Cruise Ship as the Vergina Sky and I am glad we did.

The Vergina Sky was too small, too old, too noisy, too risky and too boring to live on full time.

However, the concept of turning a Cruise Ship into Condominiums works.

1. The Ship should be bigger, way bigger.

2. The Ship should be very classy, say a 5 or 6 star.

3. The Ship should be almost new so as to not have to worry about maintenance and repairs.

4. The Ship should be managed by an extremely reputable International Cruise caretaking company such as Radisson.

And that is what we are doing.
